Sustainability. The right thing to do.

Here at Winter Sports World, we focus on sustainable environmentally friendly design, technology and methods because we have to, because it adds value, because it makes sense and because it’s the right thing to do.

We have engaged award-winning international environmental design, building services and lighting design consultancy Atelier Ten to help us achieve the highest level of sustainability.

As Paul Stoller from Atelier Ten says,

“sustainability generates value because it helps us think through different futures that can make sure we are leading to a healthier population”.

“Projects need to be so much more responsible for so many more things, especially the big ones like Winter Sports World."

“They have to make sure they've kept their focus on building a better future and not just on being compliant with the present.”

The green merits of Winter Sports World (which achieved State Significant Development Application approval on January 11, 2024) were assessed under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act) and principles of Ecologically Sustainable Development.

The 100 per cent renewable, green energy target of WSW aligns with the Western Sydney District Plan, a guide for the future of Greater Sydney and its ``metropolis of three cities’’ (Sydney, Parramatta and Penrith).

It also aligns with the 20-year Penrith Local Strategic Planning Statement that outlines the city’s economic, social and environmental land use needs, as well as the Penrith 2036+ Community Strategic Plan of 2022 which identifies a community wish list for the future, including projects that protect and enhance an ecologically sustainable environment, grow and shape the city and provide jobs.
